We’re a coalition working towards a future where a more equitable and effective federal funding system enables nonprofits to better serve their communities and address the root causes of some of society's biggest and most complex challenges.

What we’re asking for
We can build a stronger Canada through more responsive, equitable and impactful investments in communities. Nonprofits are key partners in service delivery, but outdated funding practices limit their effectiveness. The federal government must modernize how it funds the sector to improve its return on investment, foster accountability and maintain vital services that communities rely on.
We’re calling on the federal government to:
Reduce administrative burden on nonprofits and the government by:
Reforming reporting requirements to focus on impact and meaningful accountability while reducing excessive administrative requirements.
Adopting a ‘one partner, one profile’ approach to eliminate redundant administrative work when nonprofits are funded by more than one federal funder.
Make federal funding more reliable and responsive by:
Allowing flexibility in how nonprofits move funds between budget lines.
Favouring longer funding terms and reducing wait times for funding approvals.

Join the coalition
By signing up, you’re supporting a movement to transform federal funding for the benefit of communities, workers and the nonprofit sector as a whole.Joining as a coalition supporter means you’ll receive coalition updates 4-6 times per year by email, be invited to general meetings of the coalition, and have the opportunity to participate in campaigns. Coalition supporters help give us strength in numbers, demonstrating to the government why this issue matters.
Several times a year, coalition supporters have the opportunity to join committees through recruitment notices in the coalition’s newsletter. Joining a committee means you’ll be an active member of the coalition, attending regular committee meetings and contributing 1-2 hours each month. Committee members play a crucial role in advancing the coalition's work. Learn more about what each committee is working on here.
